 A true horoscope requires a great deal of work in interpretation.  First, one has to establish with the help of astronomical tables, the exact condition of the sky at the time and the geographical location of birth. This gives us a cosmic birth photograph. The purely astrological reading is established from the symbols of the twelve constellations, divided at the intersection of the ecliptic and the map of the celestial equator (the zodiac belt).

 

 What is the ecliptic ? It's the apparent circle around the sun which is seen from earth radiating out to the stars throughout the course of a year. In fact, it's the Earth which in the course of a year turns around the sun. The ecliptic is therefore the projection of the earth's orbit on to the sky.

 

 To come back to a more down to earth question : what is the zodiac?  One must realise that there is only one Zodiac ; the twelve constellations of Aries, Taurus, Gemini, cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.  The stars are situated in a narrow band of around 8° on each side of the ecliptic, as can be seen from earth.

 

 Once the subject's general sign and ascendant have been pinpointed, the astrologer interprets, in terms of their position, in which house and sign the planets exert their influence;  consideration must also be taken of the position of the aspects (square, conjunction, opposition, trine, sextile being the most important aspects) and come to a general, coherent reading concerning all areas of life.

 

 Astrologers cannot only reveal the moral and physical sides of a person's character, but also predict principal events of his life (career, partnerships, marriage, children, health, money and love).
